Take Out Your RAGE!

Join RAGE Robotics at Foster Farm and chuck a pumpkin using our trebuchet. We’ll be set up at the far end of the parking lot. For just $5, pick out your pumpkin from our pile, watch as we load it for you, then pull the release rope to send it flying down field. Try to hit the witch, spider, or ghost, or if you’re really good, hit the haunted castle at the other end of the field. We’ll be here October 9-11, 16-17, and 23-24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Foster Farm is on Foster St. in South Windsor just down the road from the mall and Applebees. While you’re here, check out Foster’s corn mazes plus lots of other activities.

Rosie Robotics’ World Famous Ziti Dinner

Come meet Agawam High School’s Rosie Robotics team and see this year’s challenge. The cost for the all you can eat buffet is $8 per person and includes pasta, meatballs, salad, bread, dessert, juice, coffee, and tea.

RAGE Robotics to Hold Pasta Dinner

RAGE Robotics will be holding their annual pasta dinner fundraiser on Saturday, December 12, at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 16 Church Street, East Hartford. Feast on all the pasta, sausage & peppers, salad, and bread you can eat, along with coffee, tea, punch, and homemade desserts. Members of the team will be serving continuously from 5 to 7 p.m.

Advance tickets cost $8 for adults and $5 for children age 6 and under. Tickets will also be available at the door at a cost of $10 for children and adults. To purchase advance tickets, contact the RAGE team leader, Chuck Nystrom, at (860) 712-8384.

UConn Football Fundraisers

Once again football season is upon us. We have the same food booth and three beer booths to start. To staff the booths, we will need 26 people at each game. The food booth will need 12-14 people. Any student who is 16 years and older can help in the food booth. Beer booths will need 10-11 people. Anyone who is 18 and older can help check IDs at the beer booths. You do need to be 21 and older to serve the beer. The game dates can be found on the team calendar here on the site.

There have been some changes this year as to where we park and the passes we receive. Parking has changed to the area by parking lot B. For those who have been doing this for some years, it is located down the runway and to the left of parking lot B. It is where we used to park. We need to check on parking passes. The second change is we will have permanent vendor passes for the season. If you are working all the games, you will be given one pass for the whole season. If you are only working a couple of the games, you will be given a pass and you are to hand it in before you leave so it can be given to someone else for the other games.

Most games start at noon, with gates opening at 10:30. We need everyone at the field by 9:00 a.m.

This is the largest fundraising event that we do. Last year we raised over $12,000 over six games. Of that, 60% went to the students and adults that worked the booths and 40% went back to the team to cover expenses of building the robot. Please consider getting as many friends, co-workers, and family members to help out at the games as you can. Last year if you worked all six game you raised $261 for yourself. We had families who raised close to $1,000 toward their travel expenses. You too can do the same.

Please e-mail Jenn if you can help. There will also be a signup sheet at the facility. We need to know by Sept 9 who we have to work the booths for the first game on Sept 12.
